rest
- REST by identifying healthy boundaries and limits.
- REST by practicing personal self-care such as life-giving work and life rhythms, including regular exercise, sleep, eating, and leisure to recharge and sustain abilities to care for others.
- REST through practicing group self-care by creating reliable rhythms for calming, centering, breathing deeply and steadily together through song or prayer or times of silence, and for reminding one another of the pathways through the valleys of the shadows of death.
refocus on god
- REFOCUS ON GOD to build healthy lives, healthy relationships, and healthy communities.
- REFOCUS ON GOD as your rock, fortress, deliverer, shield and stronghold. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2, 3
- REFOCUS ON GOD to build faith stability, and strength.
rebuild with resiliency
- REBUILD resiliency by acknowledging, naming, and reflecting people’s profound resilience to support survivors while they heal from trauma.
- REBUILD reliably caring relationships (trustworthy, hospitable, joyful, loving) that are vital to creating resilience.
- REBUILD through God's plan for post-traumatic growth: rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5: 3-5
